As you can probably tell (since there have been very few posts) I normally take most of the summer off from the world of bonefishing. The fishing in my home waters of British Columbia for trout and salmon is so good this time of year that I focus on those species. However I just heard from my contact with the Turks & Caicos government and wanted to pass the information on, that: “A National Parks Committee recently made the recommendation to allow for catch and release fishing in protected areas. This recommendation will have to be vetted in a public forum and then approved by the House of Assembly, but we are on our way.” I have no idea how long this will take, but it most definitely is a step in the right direction. Fingers crossed that this gets passed for the upcoming winter season and removes the ambiguity of where a “catch and release” sports fisherman can throw their fly.
